Richard Mahan, one of three founders of Ascend Partners Group, has recently returned to the firm as its Managing Partner. From June 2012 until October 2015, Mahan was “of counsel” to the firm after being appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the position of Director of Sales & Marketing for the California State Lottery. During his tenure at the California Lottery, he increased sales by 30% over a two year period to $5.5 billion, making it the fastest growing lottery in the country while also producing award winning advertising and marketing campaigns.
After a career in Federal and State government and as a vice president of a billion dollar real estate development corporation, Richard Mahan founded and ran The Richard Mahan Group, a full-service public relations, marketing, and fund development firm that was ranked three times in the top 25 marketing/PR firms in Los Angeles County. The firm served a broad variety of clients in the real estate, textile, high-tech, and personal services corporate sectors, as well as an extensive practice working on behalf of non-profit organizations. Mahan’s firm specialized in conducting organizational assessments, developing strategic and tactical fundraising plans, developing and implementing marketing and public relations programs and planning and executing fundraising special events, campaigns, and major conferences. Clients he represented continuously for more than a decade included D.A.R.E. America, The Daniel Pearl Foundation, Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services, and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. After 25 successful years, The Richard Mahan Group merged with RPR Fundraising to form Ascend Partners Group.
